Empowering Future Generations
I never wanted to waste a single dollar graciously given to me. Each time I was honored to receive a scholarship it pushed me harder to see the end goal.
The Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education (OTIDE) empowers lifelong learners to transform communities by delivering innovative education, consultation and professional development. Our programs reach learners across the lifespan and around the globe: from the seventh-grader in Dothan, Alabama, taking a class through our ACCESS Virtual Learning program, to the Navy petty officer completing a degree from a submarine deep in the Pacific Ocean, to the retiree continuing to learn through our Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. We are uniquely positioned to improve life trajectories for thousands of people with our broad portfolio of innovative, high-quality and accessible programs.

Commissioned within OTIDE in 2023, the UA Teaching Academy provides resources, programs and opportunities and actively promotes, programs, and publishes around best pedagogical strategies and instructional practices that improve student learning.
While we provide many innovative opportunities for people to learn and grow that would otherwise not be available to them, we can do so much more. With your support, we can increase the number of students in underserved communities who have access to high-quality, online educational opportunities that help them finish high school and get a head start on college. We can open the door to a degree from The University of Alabama to people who would have never thought it possible. We can shape the workforce of the future by providing professional development that builds the skills our employees need to face the challenges within their careers and communities. We can invest in our teacher workforce in a manner that manifests through student achievement and excellence.
Together, we can extend the Rising Tide to create a flood of future opportunities for all those within the University’s expansive reach.
